chapter 7

Chapter 7 was a good refresher about how to cite sources in text by using direct quotes or paraphrasing. I thought it was helpful how the book explains step by step the process of how to quote from a source as well as how to paraphrase a source and how to summarize a source. Using these guided processes in the book I will be able to write my research paper a lot easier. Also I learned how to do parenthetical citations which we will be using in the research paper as well. When using MLA format all you have to do is put the authors last name and page number in parenthesis after the quote because the full citation will be In the bibliography, you only have to reference the author and page in the essay. Another thing I learned from this reading is when to use quotes in your paper. When the idea the author wrote is hard to summarize or you want to make it very clear, that is when you should use a direct quote.
