1) Some examples of subversion from the text are The ABZ Book, The Gashlycrumb TInies, and The Big Bad Wolf from the wolf's perspective. A movie subversion is Hancock. The story follows a superhero who does not take on the role of "nice-guy town hero". Instead, he is slightly lazy and abusive with his powers. A book example is Everybody Poops. It is a children's book made to remind kids that every living thing has to poop. This is a topic kids are usually told to stop talking about when they makes jokes with each other about it.

2) I think GTFTS is fantastic. I never knew the term "subversion" but I've always enjoyed when authors did it. As the text highlights, the children's bedtime story sub-genre is saturated with the same approach for telling the story. GTFTS is a humorous work that is very relatable to many parents or caregivers all around the world. For that reason, the target audience is parents. specifically ones that have kids who often struggle to go to sleep.

  1. I never thought about Hancock, it was a really good movie and a very good example of subversion. And I agree with GTFTS being for adults and I also found it very funny, relating to my own experiences of how my parents felt.
