Wysocki Blog Post - Bryce Ciaravino
Reading this article showed me how important every little aspect of a genre is and how it affects the audience. The font or typeface that you use is important because even though it is not explicitly stated, it is a major factor in how the audience interprets your genre. For example, if you see an article in girl handwriting and is in nice looking cursive, it is most likely going to be about a love story. That is a simple example but can be applied to any article or genre. Another interesting point that i took away from this article was the "overall shape of type." This is basically how the paper is formatted on the page. Is all the text in uppercase, lowercase, or is it shifted to one side of the paper, etc... These are things that the audience subconsciously sees and can change how your genre is portrayed to them.
It showed how little things can affect the audience greatly. Without even reading your work the audience already has an idea of what its going to be about or what it isn't so if you do a certain font you should do it with a purpose that matches the meaning of what you're trying to convey.
ReplyDeleteI liked the examples you used to further you point .
ReplyDeleteI agree with what you say about the typeface is important because it affects the way the audience interprets it.
