Chapter 5 Ashia Carr
Chapter 5 was repetitive and comprised of a whole lot of common sense. Some would say it’s useless and really has no place in a textbook. I understand where they’re coming from but I disagree. The author included a lot of information people already knew and given that information being written in a textbook, your first assumption is that it has the sole purpose of informing. But maybe the purpose was to get us to reflect. A lot of times we give little thought to things we view as common knowledge. Having to read common knowledge can reinforce or clarify the value of it. For me chapter 5 was very helpful and it steered me towards my topic while I was reading. By the end I knew exactly what I wanted to write about.
I enjoy your view of seeing chapter 5 as pointless. Although it had good information it was stuff that most anyone would already know about.
