Ch. 5
Chapter 5 assesses the task of selecting topics and, as a whole, states a bit of the theory behind the typically experience-based and subconscious decision that virtually every student and writer has to face. Personally, I've always been fond of choosing whichever topic seems coolest or that I feel more qualified to write about. While the theory behind choosing a topic is an interesting concept to be brought to light and touched upon, I don't feel that it's useful for increasing a writer's ability to choose topics. Students and writers will be more instinctively drawn to writing about the topic that first catches their eye, and if all topics seem to be a viable option then it's not a big deal if the writer settles for a topic chosen from the pool given to them.
I choose topics I'm qualified to write about as well. It makes me feel more comfortable.
ReplyDeleteI like your point of view. Would you rather choose a topic you knew a lot about or one that highly interests you?
