Chapter five

When picking a topic to write your paper on it is important to pick one that is broad enough to pull in details, and yet specific enough not to stray from ideas. A strategy I learned from this book is to ask yourself a few questions regarding your topic, to help decide if it is the perfect medium, or if it needs to be changed. By asking some questions about your topic it might even make you evolve your topic into something different. I really think any strategy you use to get you thinking in depth about your topic would work, not just this one. If it is difficult to pick a topic, what I do is sit down and write a list of subjects or things I find interesting, and then further elaborate on them, or make them into smaller subjects and more defined. I usually end up going with a topic I am more familiar with so that I can form a paper with background knowledge as well as find new research on it. However, since we are doing more research in this paper you could even just read more into a topic you do not know about and go from there.
