It is stated that "The objective of this study was thus to evaluate the prevalence of suicidal risk and its predictive factors in the correctional population of French Guiana."(2) Compared to the general public prisoners have a greater chance of committing suicide. With not many studies on this topic is it important to get more research. To conclude, "Associations of suicide risk were found with mental disorders like depression, dysthymia, panic disorder and anxiety, males abused in childhood, smoking and being sentenced for sexual abuse."(9)
