The article is analyzing "the prevalence of suicidal risk and its predictive factors in the correctional population of French Guiana" (2). The authors conducted the study between September 2013 and December 2014. Among 707 prisoners, 13.2% of them were at risk for committing suicide. The conclusion is that "Associations of suicide risk were found with mental disorders like depression, dysthymia, panic disorder and anxiety, males abused in childhood, smoking and being sentenced for sexual abuse." (9) However, further studies must be conducted in order to reach a more precise conclusion. This is the first and only study that has been done in French Guiana.
