Choosing a topic for a research essay could be sort of difficult, but the book gives good tips for what one could do when trying to think of a topic. Some of these tips include making a list, talking to others, researching online, free writing, and doing a mind map. Of these, I believe that researching on the internet would be the most beneficial because of all the information that is out there. When researching the topic, the book says we should choose sources carefully and form our own arguments, not just simply use other people's. I think that this chapter gave very good information on what to do when choosing a topic for the research essay and how to conduct research for it.
I think just doing general research on. topics your interested in i the best way to get a start too. I feel I can have all of theses ideas and when you do general research on them it helps you see if it is a big enough topic and weather your really interested in it or not.
