Chapter 5 - Stephen A.
Chapter 5 deals with choosing a topic for research. It outlines what steps one should take before choosing a research question. Most of the information in this chapter is basic, but I feel as though there's a little too much of it. A lot of the information and tips given are for people who are really struggling to narrow down their research question, which could be me considering I have not even started thinking about my topic. But I feel as though once I get my general topic, it will be easy to narrow down my specific question that I will be researching without having to make charts and graphs or ask people their opinions on my topic. The one thing I liked about this chapter was the chart at the end on page 276 with the questions ranging from broad to specific/analytical. Having more specified questions to attempt to answer in a research paper allows for more concise research to be conducted instead of just talking about a topic in a broad sense.
I haven't thought of a topic yet either and I agree this chapter will help narrow down the specific research questions.
ReplyDeleteI also haven't thought about my topic yet but this chapter really did help me to think about topics and what I find interesting to write. I did like that this chapter spoke on having a broad question at first then narrowing it down.
