Analysis Of Indicators Of Sustainable Development Of Tourism.” (IJCRSEE)International Journal of Cognitive

In their research, Dr. Jovana Brankov, and her fellow
researchers, “analyze the relationship tourism –
nature protection in the National Park Tara, through the interpretation of the
indicators of sustainable tourism development” (Brankov 132). The researchers study
this national park to discover the impact of tourism on the environment in
protected areas specifically national parks. Brankov utilized a “total of 6 indicators
related to the environmental value of the area: level of protected area,
recognitions of international programs, protected, endemic and endangered
species, damage to forest ecosystems, as well as a direct impact of tourism activity
on the protection of nature” (Brankov 133). The study concludes that “Global analysis
of the indicators confirmed that the NP Tara has strong environmental
attributes and that tourism in the studied area did not make any significant
damage to the environment” (Brankov 139). The study also concluded that the biggest
environmental issue with tourism in national parks is the lack of proper waste
management.
