Chapter 1 Blog
The most intriguing part about this reading was how in-depth
genre is and how it affects the piece so much. With a piece hitting multiple genres it will
draw different types of audiences towards it making it more interesting for
more people and as a writer I believe you should try and branch out to as big
of an audience as you can. But that
makes your rhetoric more difficult because each genre has a different set of
rules and features that are expected of it. After looking at the two pieces by Paul
Henderson, a ranger at the park, and Shaan Hurley, a blogger and hiker of the
park, talk about the collapse of the arch it revealed how much a piece can
different through using different strategies to get the audience’s attention
through the rhetorical situation and the genre’s conventions. And overall the main concept that I learned
was everything a writer does has a direct effect on an audience and how that
can change the piece.
