Straub reading response
The primary point that stuck out to me with this article was the fact that educators have clearly caught on to the copy-paste formula that students have relied on to get through the typically undesirable task of peer-reviewing. Admittedly, I don't believe everyone follows the formula described due to the fact that, despite having my paper lazily critiqued multiple times throughout my school career, there have been times where fellow students have professionally critiqued my papers. Sometimes even tearing them apart, sadly. Either way, at a collegiate level I believe that students are capable of using their more advanced knowledge of what goes into a good paper to properly advise peers on the changes they should make. Therefore, I don't feel that the strategies described in the text will prove necessary to implement into any sort of peer-reviewing that we will be encountering. I believe these strategies would prove more useful at a high-school level or below. However, an absolute determination such as that can be proven false, so at a collegiate level the strategies could potentially be useful to a handful of students who desire to improve their peer reviewing skills.
