Olivia Barada Reading responses

1. This text surprised me in the fact of how to actually conduct a peer review. I learned that a review actually shouldn't be short and sweet and also to not only provide negative feedback but positive also. I also learned not to let knowing the writer affect your comments. I found this article very informational and interesting.

2. I do believe that some of the strategies would actually be helpful in a peer review. The two that stuck out most to me was the "how to sound" section and "is it okay to be short and sweet". In the how to sound section is to sound like a friend when giving feedback, rather than sounding like a teacher. I feel sounding like a friend the writer might take it more into consideration because it doesn't sound like someone who is criticizing, just trying to help. The "is it ok to be short and sweet" helped me learn to get specific when giving feedback to help the writer understand what you're trying to help them with.

3. I have done peer review in the past. It was always a positive experience, but the only negative fact about it is that some kids just don't want to hurt your feelings and say your paper is bad, or that we only do peer review because the teacher said it had to be done for a grade.
