Chapter 1 Discussion
When I read the title I did not really think much of it. When I started to read, I then realized that I don't really know what genre is. It dawned on me because to me, a genre was only used to describe the different groups that music, movies, and literature were in. As I continued to read I realized that genre is a very in-depth topic and has many components that make it work. I never thought of genre being so deep and having to put so much thought and planning into it. I have also never thought about the style of writing and what exactly comes into play with that. In seeing the examples, I was able to easily tell what the author's purpose was of writing. Overall what I got is, there was persuasion going on in all of the writing and it is linked to all the writing.
I agree with your statement that I never realized how expansive genre can be! Style and persuasion has a lot to do with genre and it was something I never thought about before either.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree, I didn't expect genre to be so complex but after reading the examples in the text I too could easily understand the author's purpose.
ReplyDeleteI also agree with what you said. I learned that genre is way more intricate than what I originally thought and how broad of a subject it can be.
