Navigating Genres- Ryan Linton

"Navigating Genres" was really informative and helped me to better understand what genre is and how we use it. I din't realize how much we need to use genre in our everyday lives until reading this article. We use it in just writing a post like this or on twitter, an email, etc. And it seems that pretty much every genre we use is based off a precedent. We were taught how to create certain things and we learned through experience. When composing something and using genre, you have to keep in mind audience and purpose. If you don't focus on these two things along with the genre, then what you're composing most likely won't turn out too great.
