Elijah and Genre response
I found that with the vast variety of genres, there are a huge amount of ways that you can format and alter your writing. With each new day, genres are constantly changing and new ones are being added. Things like the internet, and shifting viewpoints in society have shaped the medians in which literature is presented. Genre however serves as a guide for us as writers. It allows for us to have a template to follow and conform to. This I found to be very important because it adds a sense of uniformity to all writing. All in all, i feel like genre is cool, and conforming to it is fine, however, breaking typical genre conventions adds a layer of interest to literature as a whole.
I agree and i do think that genres are constantly changing and that is what makes them so interesting. It is one of the most important aspects to think about when writing a paper.
ReplyDeleteI also agree with breaking genre norms as kind of "spicing" up your literary piece. I think presently that is happening more and more often as we are getting bored with genres conventional ways.
ReplyDeleteGenre is more complicated than I thought it was and I wonder what curve ball will be thrown at us next involving the way words are categorized.
ReplyDeleteGenre is always changing, like you said, so there can never be a direct set of rules for genres to abide by. I agree that breaking genre conventions, when appropriate, can add a new layer to an entire work and possibly make it more memorable / interesting.
