Chapter one
Genres are way more complicated than I initially thought. A genre, also, is not only meant to describe music. Those are just a couple of things I learned from the chapter. The thing that stood out to me the most was the importance of appealing to the audience. Whenever I wrote, it was only with the intention of reflecting apart of myself to the audience but hardly with the intention of appealing to them. I see now that appealing to the audience is key part of any genre of work. Chapter 1 solidified the idea that I don’t know much about writing or the different components behind it. It is much more than grabbing a pencil and a piece of paper and writing whatever comes to mind, whether writing editorials or short stories.
