While reading the chapter, I was introduced to the sprawling topic of genre. The chapter elaborated on the many different genres that could be found in literature whether it be a narrative genre such as a memoir or a case study. Both of which are used to accomplish different tasks. I also learned that topic is very important as well when it comes to genre. I took away many things from this chapter over the course of my reading, but the thing I was most impressed by and actually learned of was the fact that there were so many to choose from and each of them tailored to a specific group of people. It was eye opening to learn that one has to choose the right genre and stay on topic in order to have a successful literary piece when trying to write to a specific audience. I also found it amazing that every time you write you must add your own style to the work and you must also write with purpose. Failing to do so could result in a boring piece. This information will define fly make me change the way I write so I can succeed as a writer.In conclusion, there are a myriad of genres out there, so many that it would be hard to list and explain them all in this blog post, but I believe that if I can utilize a specific genre to handle a writing situation, I will be an effective and persuasive writer. I will take what I learned today and use it for the rest of my life.

Genre is such a huge and diverse topic, I really liked how you laid out what genre is and the key aspects of it 10/10
ReplyDeleteI agree with you when you say that choosing the right topic and staying on track will make you successful and also writing to a specific audience. They were so many genres and they all entailed something very specific but overlapped at the same time.
ReplyDeleteI agree with your statement that everything must have its own style in genre. That helps with producing original content, as well as helping define a work to a specific genre.
ReplyDeleteI also agree, I was not aware before reading this chapter that there were guidelines to follow when crafting your genre. No one wants to create a boring piece, therefore the guidelines are very important and highlighting them in this chapter helps.
