Really Responding - Bryce Ciaravino

1. Nothing really surprised me in this article. It was more of a view shift or position change on how i should look at peer reviewing. The way that he described what most people do when peer reviewing is exactly how I used to do it. I would just skim the paper for little mistakes and tell them that their paper is good. After reading this, it almost gave me a checklist or a structure to how i should be doing it.

2. I think that theses new ways of doing peer review will be extremely helpful. After reading this it totally changed my perspective of peer review, mostly because i was never told the proper way to do it. In the "How to Sound" section, i thought Straub did a great job of explaining how to get your point across without sounding like a professor. People tend to get the point when your talking to them as an equal, so just reviewing it as a friend will be the most beneficial.

3. I have done peer review in the past and they have all been good experiences. In some cases in high school it was with my close friends, so they would just skim the paper and tell me it was good. Now that I've read this article I know the peer review process will be 10x more beneficial.
