At the end of the article, the author hinted that readers may be frustrated and confused by the complexity of genre. She then went on to say that this was a good thing. I agree with only one of those statements. I was, in fact, very confused by the information presented in the article but I doubt that’s a good thing. The confusion makes me hesitant to include consideration of genre in my writing. The article was long and jam packed with multiple points that made my understanding of genre somewhat clouded.
I agree it was a very complex concept! What I took from the essay is that genre is really about just analyzing the situation and writing about it.
ReplyDeleteI agree that genre was very complex, but some of the essay examples made it helpful to understand how genre is used and perceived. I agree that the article was jammed packed with information but her writing style helped me through it.
