Chapter 1
After reading this chapter, I've come to believe that two of the most important things I'll have to know for this chapter is genre and rhetorical situation. These two things work together, By using the rhetorical situation, you can know which genre you should use and make whatever you're working on successful. Purpose and audience are also very important when composing something, because it will give you a better idea of what you are going to accomplish and how to accomplish it. To successfully compose something through a genre, you also, obviously, have to successfully utilize the three elements of genre- style, design, and sources. If you miss out or do poorly on any one of those elements, then chances are your composition won't turn out too great. The checklist on page 16 should help when composing something because it will help me stay on a good track.
I also liked the checklist on page 16. I was not expecting such a clear mapping when explaining this topic, but when charted-out in that manor, it made it easy to see the structure of how to write effectively.
